Well Hello! is an animated short film that takes a whimsical look at community. It uses the simple notion of saying ‘hello’, as a way of feeling connected to people in your community. Hello is not only used to greet people you know, but is also the first step in connecting with people you don’t know.

We follow the main character Megan as she leaves her country town and close friend Jen to move to the city. At first the city streets don’t offer the same level of hometown friendliness that she has grown up with. Her usual friendly manner of saying hello to people is met with little response on the busy city streets. When she is able to, she visits her country town and immediately feels the familiarity of her hometown community.

Overtime, Megan becomes more comfortable with city life, makes new friends through work, and enjoys what the city has to offer, especially its cafes. She also makes use of social networking sites and text messaging to keep in touch with both city and country friends.
